Venus Of Mars Award winning director Emily Goldberg’s unique documentary follows the eye-catching transgender singer of a mid-western glam rock band. On stage, wearing a vinyl corset and stiletto boots, s/he’s Venus, lead singer of the band All the Pretty Horses. At home in Minneapolis with her/his supportive wife of sixteen years, s/he’s Steve. Born male, Venus is ‘in-between’ – taking female hormones but not planning to have sexual reassignment surgery. To some, s/he’s a pioneer, courageously exploring a brave new world of gender identity, free of categorization. To others, s/he’s simply a freak. Venus Of Mars is an incredible coming out story. It is also a moving, at times amusing and truly contemporary love story.
